Welcome to the 2007-08 School Year Roster of Field Trips for Grade 6
Confirmed: September 25th – All Day Trip: to Mt. Morris Dam and Fossil site – information :

Grade 6 Trip to Letchworth Dam & Little Beard’s Creek

WHEN

§ Tuesday September 25th: Report directly to Beckerman at 8:10

§ Depart Harley 8:30; Return in time for buses

LOCATION

§ 1st Letchworth Park Dam (rest room facilities available)§

2rd Little Beard’s Creek, Leicester, NY (North of Letchworth Park)

BRING

§ You will have a Harley lunch which includes water bottles, but may bring your own lunch additionally (carry in, carry out)

§ Rain coats, poncho or covering; extra socks –check the weather Monday night

§ Shoes (bring Creek boots –pick out a pair Monday at the end of science or during 10:30 break)

§ Sun block

§ Labeled bags for fossils

  1. Small baggies for tiny samples- old socks are also good fossil bags
  2. Old Backpack or larger cloth bag for larger samples

Answers to FAQ’s

§ Rock hammers are not necessary – many of the fossils will have washed out of the rock; you may bring if you wish (please label); goggles must be worn if hammers are to be used (Harley will supply); we have 3-4 science hammers that can be shared

§ No bathroom facilities at the fossil site

§ All fossils will return to school to be counted, identified and labeled—-they may go home afterwards on Wednesday

§ Please, no walkmans, Ipods, video games, etc.

Confirmed: October 11th – All Day PLUS Trip to Ithaca Region: We leave at 8:00 and return at 5:30. We will visit the Cornell Art Museum, a Waterfall State Park and The Museum of the Earth -

January 8th – Post Central video production and recording studio – this will be a short 1.5 hour trip – The date is still awaiting full confirmation.

April 25th – Full morning -lunchtime trip to Honeoye Falls Manor School to lead activities for Earth Day -This date is still awaiting full confirmation.

Confirmed: May 7-9: Outdoor Education at the Rotary Sunshine Camp

Confirmed: May 15th – Half day Glacial Walk Trip at Mendon Ponds Park

Confirmed: May 28th – Full day Bog and end-of-year picnic trip at Mendon Ponds Park

Here is a Roster of Science Field Trips for Grade 5. Specific Information will be posted on the homework portion of this blog site before each field trip.

Confirmed:  September 20th – 9:30 – 1:30 Strong Museum This is an integrated history/science trip that will include a 20 minute visit to the butterfly garden. Students will eat Harley box lunches at the museum.  There is a cost/Child for this trip of $9.00 – note will go home with students the week of the 10th.  Please make checks payable to The Harley School, cash is also fine.

Confirmed:  October 18th 9:30-1:30 Seneca Park Zoo This Date is still awaiting final confirmation.

April 23rd Montezuma Wildlife Refuge This is an All Day PLUS trip that departs Harley at 8:00.

Confirmed:  May13th Mendon Ponds Park An all day trip that includes a visit to Wild Wings bird sanctuary and a trip to the Pryor’s wetlands (located across from the park).

Confirmed:  June 2nd 12:45 – 2:30 Corbett’s Glen This site is within 5 minutes of Harley.
